Gregory S. Martinelli

Greg engages in an administrative tax practice representing businesses and individuals in a variety of tax disputes with the Internal Revenue Service.  Greg routinely represents his clients in:

  • Examinations and administrative appeals;
  • Penalty disputes (including penalties relating to late-filed international information returns); and 
  • Collection matters (e.g., collection due process hearings and matters relating to levies and liens).

Given the breadth of Greg's practice, he has extensive experience working with IRS National Office, IRS Appeals, IRS Collections, and IRS Account Management.

In addition to representing taxpayer in administrative matters, Greg routinely counsels tax return preparers on various federal practice and procedure matters, including:

  • Remedying missed regulatory elections;
  • Private letter ruling requests;
  • Closing agreements and pre-filing agreements;
  • Statute of limitations issues;
  • TEFRA partnership examination procedural issues;
  • Standards of conduct under relevant professional standards; and
  • IRS account management issues, such as correcting errors in IRS records.

Greg frequently lectures on federal tax controversy and federal tax quality topics.
